Inadvertent withdrawal of a control rod cluster was observed during lifting of the upper core structure on the 15th outage of Ikata Unit3. The source of magnetite sludge, which is one of the causes of this event, was presumed to be the drive shaft, but there is little knowledge about the corrosion characteristics of the drive shaft material SUS410 in the PWR primary water.
