概要
August 2nd, 2015, there occurred a lot of alarms that inform the abnormal status of the important instrumentation for safety of the Rokkasho reprocessing plant (RRP). As a result of examination, it was identified that lightning was a cause of this trouble and double malfunctioned the important instrumentation for safety. On the other hand, the regulatory requirements for nuclear facilities have become restrictive since the Great East Japan Earthquake. New regulatory standard has been enforced in November 2013 which requires safety design expanding to the external hazard. To meet the requirement and apply to safety review, we have established a lightning scale for designing, selection of target facilities of RRP, safety design policy and operational treatment.
