概要

In order to cool the melted fuel in reactors, circulating water system was installed. This system continually provides coolant inside the pressure vessel at Unit 1 to 3. After cooling fuel debris in RPVs or PCVs, injected water goes to turbine buildings. Cesium is then removed and this water flows to desalination plant with reverse osmosis membrane. After this step, purified water is recycled as coolant. Contaminated water of 300 m3 per day is created and stored in tanks. This contaminated water is treated with Advanced Liquid Processing System, ALPS where all nuclides except for tritium are almost removed. Strontium removal treatment process completed for nearly all contaminated water on May 27. Water pollution issues are handled to follow three basic strategies, namely, removing sources of contamination, isolating groundwater from contamination, and preventing from leakage of contamination.
