概要

A fatigue damage assessment procedure based on crack growth prediction was shown, in order to quantify the risk for failure of nuclear power plant components. First, crack initiation and growth behavior during low-cycle fatigue tests was reviewed and it was shown that the fatigue life could be estimated by predicting the crack growth without considering incubation period before the crack initiation. The change in crack size with the number of cycles was obtained by using the equivalent stress intensity factor, which was derived by the strain intensity factor. Then, the structural factor was implemented in the crack growth curve by considering the accelerated crack growth rate together with the enhanced initial size, which was about 300-500 .m, and this enabled to show the relationship between the crack size and the usage factor. Finally, establishing a reasonable fatigue damage assessment, the fatigue damage assessment scheme using the crack growth curve was proposed.
