概要

Recently, the particularity of the working environment in the field of space and oceanic research lead to evelop the remote handling technology and the remote maintenance technology. Additionally, in the field f nuclear technology, such as hot laboratory, it is very important to develop the remote maintenance echnology. Espec ially, in the case of the hot laboratory to handle the irradiated fuel assembly containing he plutonium, the large scale cell equipped with shielding ability and sealing performance is required. Examination cell installed in Fuels Monitoring Facility (FMF) was made of the concrete, and its dimension - 6 m in length, 19.5 m in width and 7m in height. In that cell, post irradiation examination of theradiated fuel assembly is carried out by remote handling using the manipulators. In addition, the cranes nd power-manipulators are installed in the large scale cell in order to maintain the test equipments. The ranes and power-manipulators have a function of remote maintenance in the case of these equipments ailure. In this report, we described the remote maintenance technology using the cranes, ower-manipulators and repair hoist in the large scale cell installed in FMF and the establishment of the maintenance method based on the experience over the 30 years of the operation.
