概要
A new technique to monitor SCC initiation event has been developed by using electrochemical potential transients which can be used to locate the position of natural occurring SCC initiation sites, in 3 dimensional space. 6 titanium wire used as reference electrode , were placed around the test piece, SUS 316, in a way to cover maximum space around the test piece in order to record the potential transients that would be coming out as a result of SCC initiation event during slow strain test carried out in Na2S2O3 solution at ambient temperature and pressure. Dummy anode experiments were conducted prior to actual SSRT, under similar test condition by applying external anodic current to a wire placed closed to test piece to simulate local anode position and the potential transients reco rded by 6 electrodes were used by computer simulation method to locate the actual anode position. Fair amount of accuracy was obtained in locating the dummy anode position. Attempt was made to apply the same methodology to natural occurring SCC in actual SSRT test.
