概要

Environmental stress cracking (ESC) is one of the important causes of failure of a polymer product such as a pipe for chemicals. Both mechanical loading and diffusion of chemical from the surfa of material are dominant factors of ESC. In this study, growth ehavior of ESC was simulated by FEM analysis as a structure-diffusion interaction problem. The results show that the crack growt rate and the crack surface shape were affected by the diffusional rate and diffused concentration distribution in the material.
