Laser welding is one of useful methods in manufacturing processes. However, in welding processes, porosi ties sometimes occur in weld metal. Therefore, it is demanded to establish the method to predict and sup press porosities to make sound joints. Numerical simulation has been developing and become one of availa ble techniques to make it realized. Even so it’s still very difficult to predict its formation with comp te accuracy. In this study, numerical analysis to simulate the behavior of bubbles moving in molten meta l of aluminum alloy was conducted, in order to predict porosities formed in weld metal. As compared betw een the calculation results for behavior of the bubbles formed in static molten metal and its in-situ ob servation by X-ray transmission, the calculation results were in accordance with the experimental ones.
