概要
Abstract Structural integrity and flaw evaluation for nuclear power plant components has been recently introduced in Japan as the part of Fitness-for-Service Code. Flaw evaluation based on fracture mechanics approach leads to the establishment of a new perspective in the maintenance engineering for inspection, repair and replacement of nuclear components. The present paper describes the significance of the roles of fracture mechanics in maintenance engineering, including the aspects of future development of the maintenance science.
