概要
Japan is one of the countries with abundant active volcanos, and intensive research activities have been carried out for a long time on various volcanic phenomena including volcanic eruption. Furthermore, nationwide observation system of the volcanic activity has been established, and multiple countermeasures against volcanic disasters are being adopted. In nuclear power plant, the licensees are required to evaluate the impact of volcanic ash and develop the countermeasures based on the technical knowledge accumulated up to date to ensure safety. This paper focuses on the outline of this activity.
