平成 25年 7月に福島第一原子力発電所の事故の教訓や世界の最新知見を踏まえて原子力規制委員会が策定した「新規制基準」が施行された。原子力発電所の再稼働にあたっては、「新規制基準」に従って、テロ対策、過酷事故対策、耐震・耐津波性能の強化、自然現象に対する考慮の新設、電源の信頼性の強化等、幾重にも安全性を確保、維持するためのハードとソフトの対策が要求されている。その対策のひとつが近隣火山の噴火が発生した場合においても炉心の著しい損傷を防止する準備である。泊発電所においては、火山現象時においても炉心損傷防止に必要となる電力供給を安定的にできるよう外気の取入れが必須である大容量の電源設備に対して火山灰除去が可能か検討してきた。本解説では、これまで筆者らが検討してきた省人化に向けた連続運転可能な火山灰除去装置の概念設計および原型試験装置の開発と成果について紹介する。...
