概要

The basic function of ensuring the safety of nuclear power plants is to shut down the nuclear reactor, cool down the fuel and confine the radioactive substance. In the accident at Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant that occurred in March 2011, we succeeded in shut down the nuclear reactor, but it was impossible to cool down the fuel by tsunami inundation, eventually lost the function of confine the radioactive material. Tomari nuclear power plant is promoting multiple and diverse safety measures based on the accident at Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. In addition, we are also working on equipment measures and practical training to prepare for severe accidents.
