概要
In welds of steel structure of nuclear power plants, stress corrosion cracking and fatigue cracking occur, and the residual stress due to welding becomes one of the main factors causing them. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the residual stress distribution of a welded region, and residual stress analysis performed by the finite element method (FEM) has been become an effective tool. Previously, in order to shorten computation time, the analyses are carried out in a two-dimensional model and the grouping technique for decreasing of the number of pass sequence. However, welding process is moving a heat source, and the grouping technique has not been fully established. Therefore, it is more appropriate to use a three-dimensional model and to perform an analysis in which multi-pass sequence is considered. In this research, large-scale analyses were performed by an idealized explicit FEM in order to understand residual stress in butt welded pipes welded with pass sequence consisting of more than one hundred passes for a large thickness..
