Hot-dip galvanizing steel sheet has been used as building materials or various types of steel sheets for automobiles due to its high corrosion resistance by forming oxide composites layers. It has been difficult to detect metal corrosion products on painted galvanized steel sheet surface qualitatively and quantitatively by using existing inspection methods. In this study, the corrosion products of Zinc and Aluminum on hot-dip galvanizing steel sheet was assigned by comparing the results of terahertz spectroscopy and terahertz reflection imaging. To assign the metal corrosion products more accurately, it is necessary to establish terahertz absorption database of metal corrosion products. Besides higher frequency range than 4.5THz is also required for practical use. As more database of metal corrosion is established, terahertz wave techniques is available non-destructive diagnosis for metal corrosion products on surface qualitatively and qualitatively.
